Willful’s Mission Continues to Expand: Now serving British Columbia

Survey: 58% of British Columbians Have Put off Preparing for Death

Willful’s mission is to change the way Canadians approach end-of-life planning and we’re excited to announce our launch in British Columbia. Residents of British Columbia can now create their Last Will and Testament, Enduring Power of Attorney and Representation Agreement online and in as little as 20 minutes at Willful.co.

In a recent survey commissioned by Willful, 1 in 10 reported their wills were out of date with a vast majority of millennials (90%) saying they’ve been putting it off. General procrastination seems to be the main reason many BC residents have yet to create their will (38%). In a recent Global News report, 1/3 of BC parents with children under 18 do not have a will legally naming guardians.

With access to an online service like Willful that simplifies the process, we’re hoping to change those numbers dramatically. Our team believes that well-built, intuitive technology can lower the barriers such as time, costs and anxiety when it comes to estate planning.

The Willful team has worked with leading estate lawyers across Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia to ensure the documents are tailored for each province.

While most people associate estate planning with death, creating a will and power of attorney documents is actually about life—making life easier for the ones you care about and those who will be taking care of closing out your estate. Your written will helps those making decisions on your behalf feel confident they have your roadmap in their hands.
