Summer in Canada is short but sweet. We only get a few months of warm, sunny weather, so we have to make the most of it while it’s here. To help you do just that, we rounded up some of the Willful team’s favourite summer long weekend activities.
1. Watch a movie at the drive-in
One good thing to come out of the pandemic is the revival of drive-in movie theatres. They’ve become a summer staple among the avid movie watchers here at Willful. What’s not to love about watching a movie under the stars and indulging in buttery movie theatre popcorn?
2. Find a new hiking trail
With Willful team members living all across Canada, we’ve discovered that you can find great hiking and walking trails just about everywhere. If you don’t have any trails close by, it’s a good excuse to drive to a town nearby and explore! Hiking is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, get some exercise in and spend time with friends or family.
3. Dust off the lawn games
Summer and backyard games go hand in hand. From classics like bocce ball and cornhole to the new favourites like KanJam and Spikeball, everyone loves a little friendly competition. If you don’t have a yard, bring the games to the park or beach!
4. Rent a standup paddleboard or kayak
We’re fortunate to have lakes, oceans, and rivers all at our fingertips here in Canada. Enjoy a day on the water by renting a standup paddleboard or kayak. Don’t fret if you’re not experienced at paddleboarding or kayaking, falling in is half the fun. Be sure to wear a life jacket and sunscreen!
5. Go on a wine tour
Two summers ago, the Willful team had a blast doing a biking wine tour with The County Wine Tours during the company retreat. Even if you’re not a wine connoisseur, you’ll have fun getting a behind the scenes look at how wine is made, seeing the beautiful wineries, and spending time with friends or family.
6. Netflix & will
While we hope the sun shines for everyone this weekend, sometimes it’s nice to spend a rainy day watching Netflix from the couch (and finishing your will - sorry we had to).
Happy long weekend!
