Willful is thrilled to announce our partnership with Jays Care Foundation as our featured charity for the months of December 2021 and January 2022.

Jays Care Foundation aims to level the playing field for kids facing barriers all across Canada. We’re proud to be supporting them in their mission to support underserved communities, including kids living at or below the poverty line, kids living with disabilities, kids living in First Nation communities, and girls without access to sport.

For every will purchased with the code JAYSCARE this December and January, Willful will be donating $20 to the Jays Care Foundation as our featured charity of the month. Plus, enjoy an additional $20 OFF any Willful plan with the code JAYSCARE.

Leave A Legacy Gift To Jays Care Foundation

A legacy gift (or bequest) is a gift in your will left to a charity, school, or non-profit organization. You can leave a gift in the form of property, cash amount, or percentage of your estate.

Based on an Angus Reid survey commissioned by Willful, only 12% of Canadians plan to leave a legacy gift to a charitable organization in their will. Our goal is to increase this number by educating Canadians about the power of legacy gifts to organizations like  Jays Care Foundation. Legacy giving enables charities, like  Jays Care Foundation, to continue empowering and supporting communities across Canada.

Since launching in 2017, Willful has enabled over 4,400 cash gifts directed to charities in wills since our launch, totalling over $65 million. Even a small gift can leave a large impact when you’re gone.

How Do Legacy Gifts Help Organizations Like Jays Care Foundation

COVID-19 has disproportionately affected Canadians already facing significant barriers. Jays Care Foundation  is committed to supporting underserved Canadian communities through virtual and in-person programming, providing adaptive baseball kits and resources, providing meals to underserved communities, and using sport as a vehicle to teach life skills and change outcomes for kids in all ten Canadian provinces and three territories .

Your legacy gift will empower the Jays Care Foundation to continue serving Canadian youth from underserved communities and creating a more equitable Canada.

How Do I Leave A Legacy Gift For Jays Care Foundation?

People often expect legacy giving to be a lengthy and complicated process. Willful has made it easy to leave a legacy gift in just a few clicks.

After the Special Gifts section where you assign property and lump sum cash gifts to beneficiaries, you will see our charitable giving section that allows you to leave a lump sum to  Jays Care Foundation and/or another charity of your choice!

If you prefer to leave a percentage of your residual estate, you can add a charity as a beneficiary in the next section. (Your residual estate is everything left after debts and taxes are paid and specific gifts are distributed).

Despite what many Canadians believe, leaving a legacy gift doesn’t mean there will be less to leave your loved ones. Legacy giving also often allows you to leave a much larger gift than may otherwise have been possible in your lifetime. Even if you’re not wealthy, there is no gift too small to make a significant impact on Canadian communities.
